Summer school courses @urdang

A choice of five full-day courses aimed at engaging and entertaining young performers who are interested in pursuing formal training or just having fun!

These are all intensive, 5-day full-time workshops, each with a specialist focus, enabling students to develop their chosen skills in the performing arts.

During the summer of 2012 the courses are running concurrently with the Olympics. For this reason we strongly recommend accommodation is booked early to avoid disappointment.

Pre-Audition Course

Our pre-audition courses are held three times per year. This is an intensive five day course designed for students interested in auditioning for professional vocational colleges, culminating in a mock audition.

It provides an opportunity for students to gain the necessary skills, information and confidence to embark upon auditions. Over the five days they will be prepared with a solo song and monologue, as well as being tutored in audition technique for ballet and jazz.

These courses are led by members of the Urdang faculty. This course also runs in the October & February half terms, click here for more details. Feedback from past students:-

West End Workshop

For students: 14-21 years
The West End Workshop offers students a unique insight into the world of musical theatre. Each day consists of a jazz class followed by two musical theatre repertoire workshops. All the sessions are taken by our own specialist teachers in conjunction with West End performers and professional choreographers and musical directors. Students explore the skills necessary to work in musical theatre today. This is a great opportunity to study with industry professionals and enjoy learning with some of London’s premier performers! There is a demonstration on the final day so students can observe each others work and parents can see what they’ve been up to! At the end of the week all students take home their own Urdang T-shirt!

Dance/Theatre Workshop

For students: 14-21 years
This is a fantastic course in dance with an option to either study musical theatre or specialise in dance. Each day consists of a ballet class, jazz class and then a choice of either a dance or musical theatre workshop, to be decided before the course commences. As with our West End Workshop all the sessions are taken by our own specialist teachers in conjunction with West End performers, professional choreographers and musical directors. There is a demonstration on the final day so students can observe each others work and parents can see what they’ve been up to! At the end of the week all students take home their own Urdang T-shirt! This flexible course allows students to focus on the aspects of theatre which they find most inspiring.

Summer Youth Workshop

For students: 10-13 years
This comprehensive course gives younger students the chance to have fun while learning new skills. Each day consists of a ballet class, jazz class and workshops in dance and musical theatre. As with our other summer courses all the sessions are taken by our own specialist teachers in conjunction with West End performers, professional choreographers and musical directors. There is a demonstration on the final day so students can observe each others work and parents can see what they’ve been up to! At the end of the week all students take home their own Urdang T-shirt!

Streetdance Workshop

For students: 13+ years
Come and learn some of the hottest Streetdance styles. Each day will consist of 3 workshops covering different styles of street, from commercial, house dance, popping to waacking. This is a great opportunity to study with industry professionals and enjoy learning with some of London’s premier performers. There is a demonstration on the final day so students can observe each others work and parents can see what they’ve been up to! At the end of the week all students take home their own Urdang T-shirt!
