What to Expect at your audition
Urdang looks for candidates with talent, ambition and personality who are committed, disciplined and hardworking for all of its courses. Potential and personality are as equally valued as previous experience and attainment.
We are looking for raw talent that shines out, as well as talented students with previous training.
Your audition day is designed for you to demonstrate your full potential and passion for the performing arts and consists of dance classes in Ballet and Jazz, a presentation of your prepared acting monologue and solo songs and a short individual interview.
In the dance classes you will be assessed within groups but there are also opportunities for solo free-style in any dance subject of your choice as part of the Jazz audition class. Your solo song & acting monologue will be performed in front of the audition panel only.
There is a physical assessment taken by an in-house staff member to ensure that you can reasonably be expected to meet the physical demands of the course.
Funding & Recall Auditions
The majority of offers Urdang give will involve a recall audition. These recall auditions are designed to place you on the most appropriate course and assess you for funding.
