The
Application Process
Step 1 Before applying to audition for the
Academy you will wish to find out more about us and the courses. Please read this prospectus, visit our
website and you are welcome to visit the Academy on one of our Open Days. Open days for this year have ended and dates for October 2010 onwards will be posted here during the summer break.
Step 2 Applying. If you decide that you wish
to audition then you need to send in the completed application forms (with this
prospectus or downloaded from our website) and return them by post to the
Urdang Academy.
The forms you need to complete are:
1. Application Form
2. Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form
3. Medical Form (returnable on enrolment)
Step 3 Audition. For all courses the Academy
looks for candidates with talent, ambition and individuality who are committed
and hardworking. Urdang has a long and valued tradition of encouraging widening
participation and actively welcomes applications from sections of society who
may be under-represented in the performing arts industry. Entry is not dependent merely on
whether a candidate has achieved a particular standard in training or
qualification. Fresh talent and potential are equally as important and valued.
The audition is in two stages.
1. Participate
in a Jazz class and perform a solo song.
2. Successful
candidates participate in a Ballet class and Musical Theatre workshop that is
designed to test ability to perform with individuality and personality.
A physical assessment is taken to ensure the candidate is
able to undertake the course of training.
