Pastoral Care
Urdang places great importance on the pastoral care of its
students, conscious that for many this will be their first time living away
from home with many new to London. Overseen by the Principal, the Academy
provides student support and advice in many practical areas; a Student Liaison
Officer offers advice on accommodation, finance and related issues. Tutors look
after 25 students and are available to discuss matters that may arise during
their time at Urdang. Students may have private interviews with the Principal
on request.
Treatment Department
Urdang has a noted treatment
programme, judged as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
A performer’s body needs to be kept in peak physical
condition in order to cope with the demanding nature of training in the
performing arts. It is our mission to keep our students’ injuries to an
absolute minimum. Our treatment support team can attend to all student injuries
quickly and efficiently so that time away from training is minimised. The
majority of injuries and accidents can be treated on-site in our fully equipped
treatment facilities. Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, Pilates, Sports Massage and
Aromatherapy make up a valuable part of the treatment department.
Students are strongly advised to take out the private
insurance option, which is offered to all new students during induction week.
Referrals to specialists and private hospital treatment may be needed in
certain circumstances and the insurance allows for quick and efficient
specialist care.
